Up in the peak of that Derby Cover, there is a boss That is cast into the primary for seemingly no reason at all. It runs along the starter needle bearing housing and kind of a bitch. I used a dremel to clean out along the base of it and had it scored enough to snap it off. Then I cleaned up that area and the rest of the lip around where the derby cover was with a grinder. Then I used about 10 different grit sandpapers to clean up the lip. Aluminum is soft enough that it will sand just like wood.
