10 Most Influential Bikes of The Last 10 Years...

A post was made on the Jockey Journal about this. I thought I'd give it a go as to which of the more well-known bikes have influenced me from the last 10 years. Here are the first five and I know it seems kind of TV show-ish, but there is a reason that they became popular.

First off, the Green Meanie CFL from West Coast Choppers:

Indian Larry's Rat Fink Tribute:

Church of Choppers' Hammer of God:

Chopper Dave's Super Freak:

Michael Lichter's FLH built by Choppers, Inc.

You'll never catch me, Copper...

Seriously, the Shovel would dust these dudes, but their bikes are cool either way. Atlanta City PD courtest of Atlanta Time Machine.

You can't stop progress...

More from Atlanta Time Machine.

Downtown Atlanta from 1960 until 2010 at the Grady curve. You can see in the 1960 pic that they were just cutting 75/85 through the city.

Our fair city...

Who doesn't like Waffle House? There's one every two blocks in the Southeast. Here is a picture of the first Waffle House ever opened on Labor Day of 1955 in Decatur (metro Atlanta neighborhood). It was refurbished to it's original state in 2008 and became the Waffle House museum. By the way, check the bottom of the sign and see if you can pick up on the other popular Georgia-based restaurant's name.

Man times have changed. Here's a picture of Peachtree Street (One of the main drags that runs from one side of downtown Atlanta all the north through Buckhead and out of the city) in 1907:

Hundreds of other pictures and great information can be found at the Atlanta Time Machine website.

Neeeeeext...

I'll button up the "Buford Shovel" today, so it's time to start on another project. First up...rebuilding this mofo for the next build.

Ideas...

So I have been thinking of ideas for the 64 a lot lately. This is a photo I took at the Smokeout. Super clean, and simple.

Smoke music...

When I was 18-19 and this album had just been released, we used to burn that good green listening to this. I got this album on midnight that day it was released. I was a freshman in college and had no idea what the next 12 years held in store for me...and here I sit 12 years later typing this.

Thievery...

Stole this pic from somewhere at some point...if it's yours, nice bike.

I wants...

Shithead...

Carb is sorted out, clutch is adjusted...now if I can get the brakes to work right I'll be riding this weekend. Xian still hasn't gotten me my seat though.

Once I'm done fiddling with this bike, I gotta get the Ford running right, start on the next Shovel and get back to work on the S2 350 for Josh.

Timebomb Tuesday...

Support your local Irishmen. Cheers!

Carbon foul...

She'd fire up easy with fresh plugs, but then kill after heat cycling. Pulled plugs and I was carbon fouling the shit out of them. Tuned the idle speed/mixture to perfection, but killed her when I was tuning the accelerator mix. I checked the plugs after that and they were clean as a whistle. I'll get it right this afternoon.

Damn these chains...

I have to report to jury duty at 12:30 today. Maybe they won't pick me.

Garage Company...

If you're ever in Los Angeles you have to make this trip. Yoshi has some of the neatest stuff. I honestly just walked around this place for an hour just looking at parts. He has anything from a JD to a T145 to a nostalgic Ducati racer. It is worth the trip just to drool over tanks or a wall full of primary covers. Anyways if you're in LA go get a chubby at Garage Company.

Get that shit off your hands...

Second home...

So Georgia is home, but every time I come to Southern Cali it just seems to fit. I love this place, good ass Tacos and amazing weather. So much culture its crazy.

A few shots from this morning...

A couple of kinks to work out and still waiting on my seat to come back, but here it sits in the garage getting her final details before I get to ride her again.

SEC Schedule...

Every year some computer/sports nerd creates a grid of the SEC football schedule utilizing the helmets as markers. It's spread amongst fans everywhere and the people then have it cross reference games throughout the year. Mikey emailed one out today and instead of getting their helmets, the Gators got some jorts...

GarCo son...

Great looking Sporty from the guys at Garage Company Customs...big ups on that one. Given it's not the same weekend I'm in Biloxi, we'll be at the party this month.

LEEEEEE BENDERRRRRRRR...

Another video of total radness featuring Lee Bender.

I missed Timebomb Tuesday...

I am headed to West LA tommorow. Thought the song was fitting. If anyone wants to grab a beer let me know I will be in and around Venice and Santa Monica.

Lee Bender...

I don't know him personally, hell never even met him, but when I have the opportunity to help someone out AND help sponsor an event in my own backyard, then of course I'm going to jump on it. Watch the video if you want to learn more about Lee and if you're on the Jockey Journal and you've seen the Sporty with the "pope hat," then you'll know who that bike belongs to.

Be there, ride and party like hell with us. It'll be a good time.

Stuff that made me laugh...

First time putting my foot on the pedal. Cycled it a couple of times, turned on the key, got it on the front compression stroke...bam. No spraying gas in the cylinders or any other tricks.

Hey Nick top or bottom?...
