Got in some riding this weekend. She runs good...and hopefully she stays that way. Now, whether to go to BMR next week or not.

So I just got done dicking around with the shovel and reading a bit of the new Cycle Source in which the dyna is in. But I read a article that Lemme wrote and it talks about the hipsters of our culture. Its a plague but something we have to deal with. I am happy to have a great group of dudes here in good old GA that are as real as they come. We are who we are and love our scooters and when its all said and done I can call on any of these fools for help and they are always down. Thats what its about not the boots you have or the flannel shirt you wear. So to all my BROTHERS thanks for kicking ass. The boobs are nice so I added them just for looks cause we are ugly.

So I have been on our good friend Roadside Marty for a while for his 82 FXR. So I get a phone call yesterday morning from him and he informs me that its time to part with it. Today I got the cash and saturday the deal is happening! Thanks Marty I LOVE YOU!

This is how the blue bike started and is titled. It still had plenty of the original cues when I got it, but obviously those went south when I decided to rebuild it. It's cool to see the original brochure. I would love to have a copy of this.

Air cleaner popped on. It runs pretty damn good. I opted for that choke from Wimmer because it had 3 settings and most either run wide ass open or closed. That knob is retarded big though. I should put it on a lathe and turn it down.

One side finished...

After filing and sanding, filing and sanding I finally got one finished last night. I soda blasted it to take out any more marks. Now on to the other one.

Like I'm spending way too much time on this, but look at the difference between the one that I haven't really started yet and the one that I'm almost done with. I'm doing this all by hand with files, emery cloth and sandpaper as well. I'll be finished with the left one tonight and get cracking on the right one immediately. I haven't been posting much, but I've been working on a few things and am changing pace on the next Shovel build once again. I got a fire under my ass now and It's gonna turn out badass. I had to dig into the parts stash and sell a few things to fund it though (kids be spensive).

More stupid Shovelhead pics...

They're still growing on me. I felt pretty strongly about keeping the flashy FLH shocks on this bike from the point I decided to build (rebuild) it. I thought the combination of everything I had going on worked just right, but I've grown to think it just wasn't enough. I wanted to try these Works Performance shocks because of how highly they were touted and I was hoping to change the look a little before it warmed up. My original intentions were to make this bike a combination of new performance mixed with classic styling, but I think along the way a little too much classic styling made it get lost in the mix of standard swingarm bikes. I'm hoping to make myself happier with a couple of little changes and this is the first of them.


They're definitely smaller and they skinnied the old goat up.
