Swiped...

I posted a pic of this bike a long time ago. I stole this one from somewhere. I love that Crazy Frank's fender.

KnKut Drill Bits...

A buddy of mine from high school, Andy and his dad run KnKut. Andy sent me a set of bits and a catalog the other day with the instructions to "Beat the Hell out of them." Works for me.

If you need bits, taps or dyes, look them up.

Last parts trickling in...

The fender radius is almost perfect...and can you believe I would sand the finish off of a perfectly good, new hand control?

I think the CFL feels neglected. I have serious motivation now though, so I'll actually finish that when I'm done with the FXWG.

Friends...

It's always good to see them. Jason came through town last night. I'll be happy when he's just a few hours down the road.

When I first started riding...

I would always look at people's shops or garages and wonder, "How do they have so much shit?"

Then I realized after time, you just accumulate it.

A LITTLE progress...

Mocked up the new rear brake setup on the swingarm to see if it would fit with the stock locating bracket. I need to bore the hole a little larger, but that's fine since I'm also drilling holes in the bracket itself (which is why it's covered in blue Dykem).

All chrome sanded except for a couple of pieces now.

Blue moon...

Motor City Motors...

It's probably a hokey show and it's most likely just a new version of Monster Garage, but my buddy Jason Hallman will be on the show tonight at 10PM on Discovery. Look for the douchey guy...that's him.

Monday sucka...

Slow weekend...

I honestly didn't do shit really to get the Shovel closer. I was supposed to be out of town anyway, so I'll get back on it this week.

It got here yesterday...and it's mean looking.

Fender for sale...

Sitting at home sick can be boring, so I decided to go through some stuff I could sell.

I got this peak ribbed fender from Front Street a while back and am not going to use it anymore. He charges like $130 shipped for them, so I'll say $100 shipped. It is a 5" wide fender radiused for a 16" wheel. The weird looking area is where I photoshopped out my last name.

A package from Jeff at FTW Co...

Thanks man. I'm glad my contributions are worthy.

No posts...

I'm laid up sick today. Everyone around me had some sort of bug the last few days and I guess I was the last to catch it.

20100119

A little deeper...

No .600 lift cam, but a .485...the Andrews B grind, which is not quite as big as I would've expected for a built 98"er, but perfectly streetable without a fucked up idle.

The B grind next to a Sifton RE112. You can tell the difference between their lift, duration, lead-in ramps, etc. just from looking at the pic.

Aside from nasty oil, the cam chest was clean. There was also a metal breather gear in there, giving me a little sigh of relief.

Murdered out...

Jason sent me these pics earlier. Made especially for me with everything blacked out that could be. Baker's new 4 speed. I can't wait for it to get here.

Monday...short week though.

More progress 2...

I got into the motor this weekend.

Nothing like a little red RTV to seal things up...Jesus. Luckily, I found out that the reason the front rocker box was leaking was because it was missing two nuts...one of them being that 9th mount in the front that I talked about when splitting the other set of rocker boxes...that oughta be a lesson to people who chops those out.

Found a set of high lift Andrews titanium retainers in it. That means it's running around a .600 cam. I guess I'll find out in the next day or two for sure.

Label them pushrods...this motor was nasty.

I thought the crank seal was leaking, but it looks like oil was coming down from above and running into the stator plug and coming out around the rotor on the bottom.

More progress...

Whachoo know bout stoppin' dem bikes?

Me, Seth and Eric went out to Mike Saligoe's shop since I don't have some of the more heavy tools at my house. Mike started Atlanta Monster Cycles with his son Zack a few years ago and has had a couple of bikes featured, but Zack has since moved away and Mike now does any kind of metal work for anyone around Atlanta when it's something outside of their ability. This guy knows metal better than anyone I know and learned it by building Indy and Sprint cars for years in Indiana. He'll tell you stories all day long about hand hammered .030" chromoly sheet metal to make Indy bodies and how things went wrong after the teams stopped making their own cars. If you need any bracket or anything made at all...he can do it.

We started off by milling a little off of a bracket that we found to work with the Hella 500 headlight that I wanted to run.

Then we went on to cutting out the caps so the new caps and bungs, as well as the new mounting tab can go on.

I had to catch one of those moments where Mike was telling a story. He'll keep any motornerd entertained for hours. He also works for Advanced Armament during the week welding up silencer bodies...pretty cool gig, huh?

20100115

Stolt pic Friday...

A couple more...

Another shot with better lighting for the shit of it. I'm 50/50 on those fork boots.

If anyone has read this for a while and remembers, I got these tanks for free from a dude on the JJ. The front top mount on the left side was booger welded back on and was made from flat stock, so I ordered a tab kit from Ted's. I'll redo that mount, take out that one dent, put in the new caps/bungs and let my buddy Eric start prepping them for paint.

20100114

Coming together...

The front end is back together and I'm not totally happy with it just yet...it'll get there. I don't know about the fork boots either.

I had a bunch of folks commenting about the anodized fittings on the JJ...I don't care. I'm not going for "period" or any other bullshit on this. I kinda like the idea of the mutant baby of a racer and classic styling so I got some anodized gas caps to use on my set of OEM (OMG he's gonna cut up OEM tanks!!!) 3.5 gallon bobs.

Motor cart...

Since my bench is packed full and in the process of rebuilding two Shovelheads, I thought it would be ideal to have a cart specifically for building motors. That way I could get them off the bench, roll them around, push them down the street when I get pissed...you know.

Sears has these on sale for $63.99 right now. That's cheaper than you can get one of those Rubbermaid plastic carts for. I went and picked one up yesterday.

I love when I come up on stuff I haven't seen before...

Badass pictures:
The Shit Machete

The aftermath...

With parts laying everywhere and oil all over the place, I needed to clean this place before I started putting the old goat back together.

I need a motor cart...

This bench is TOO crowded.

T-shirt printing...

Anyone got the hookup?

More badass paint...

Troy from Mastodon's custom shop Fender Deluxe P Bass dons a Silverburst that's typically only associated with Gibsons. You don't see too many burst finishes on bikes though...hmmm...

Badass...

Sitting as Austin Speed Shop...I stole these pics.
