OH noes!!! Not HIP HOP!!!

Being that a lot of "bikers" that I know are trying too hard to fit in to cross boundaries, I'm sure that I'm pissing people off by posting this review. Good. If you don't like hip hop (real hip hop), then take your fake ass back to the Vans store and get a pair to match your rebel flag t-shirt and your sense of entitlement. I could school your poser ass on metal too.

If you actually appreciate good, old hip hop (I'm thinking about my favorite Boozefighter) then you'll like what Raekwon just dropped this week. It's classic Wu-Tang (plenty of Kung Fu movie overdubs and simple grooves & beats), even though the RZA wasn't part of the project at all. Being that I listened to Wu-Tang like they were preaching the gospel in the mid-90's, I've got a deep-seated appreciation for that early style. The albums over the years have progressively strayed further from the raw edge of the originals (with a few diamonds in the rough). Raekwon brings the heat on this one though and I'm glad I picked it up.

Just downloaded, yeah no Rza but Ghostface Killa, Inspectah Deck, Method Man and shit backing him up with a little Dirt McGirt on one song that shit is off tha hook.

Seriously, my music runs the gammut: bluegrass from the deepest hollars of Tennessee; Wu-Tang; west coast hardcore gangsta shit; West side connection; Southern Rock like Drive By Truckers; Country and Western like Buck Owens, Willy and Waylon; Unknown Hinson; Blues wether it's old Mississippi delta stuff to Maxwell street in Chicago; Electronica like Kraft Werk and the what have you; old punk like Black Flag, Sex Pistols, Agent Orange and Minor Threat; Metal, speed metal, doom metal, old metal blah blah; bluegrass metal (look up Iron Horse badass shit); Rockabilly; Techno and trance; hell, I even like Symphony... Pretty much like a lot of music except what's playing now a days on the radio.

One of my all time favorites is Prince! I love that little mother fucker.

I agree with Beaner about everything except hip hop. I've never liked it and probably never will. There are a few songs I dig and of course the Beasty Boys amuse me since I remember when they were a punk band but otherwise just don't dig the HH. Luckily I don't have any rebel flag shirts and have never wore Vans. Then again the only skateboard I ever owned was an old plastic K-mart one that we sat on and rode down the hill in front of my house. Oh yeah, I DID make a skateboard once out of a piece of plywood and my older sisters old roller skates. I guess I'm just too old to get it ;-)

I was just speaking in generalities, Jeff. There is nothing wrong with not liking a kind of music, but given the average motorcycle blog reader is one of the new generation of "hard ass biker," I was calling them out on being cookie cut from the same sheet as the rest of them. In trying to be different, people often look the same. That's my issue with the "Rockabilly" scene as well.

And yes, I listen to all kinds of shit...as you can tell, I hate Rockabilly though. hahaha

Well, yeah I hate the Johnny-come-hard-lately. But they have a need to in their own fucked up way to prove themselves. What they don't get is Me and my ilk (like all you doods I consider friends, my club brothers anywhere they may be or a club member in established MC's) have nothing to prove. We know who we are.

The thing is they think it's another fad, I don't knwo if that's the right word, but anyway this chopper, custom bike thing sub-genre and the what have you is a way fro them to act all badass out of a need to stroke their already low self-esteem. I'm not out to impress John Q. Public on what kind of dick I am. I would rather stay away from them but mingleing happens with the public. What they haven't come to the realization yet is it's about having fun: drinking, druggery if that's your scene, riding you bike, riding with friends to look for a good time and sharing. A wayward Bozzefighter, or 1%'er, or some knucklehead on a broke down bike will always have a place to lay their head after filling their belly, getting them drunk maybe fixing them up with a woman of ill repute because that's the age old biker code.

Yeah Dawg, I hate the whole Rockabilly scene but I still like the music. I don't really fit into a scene. I am who I am. I jockey bikes I think are cool, drive a truck and a jeep, bring tha ruckas with the hip hop, skated when I was younger, wear flannel and cowboy wellington heeled boots because that's who I am and don't give a fuck about what scene I belong to. A member of the human scene i guess.

Another thing, I have brothers that sometimes look like they belong in a critter HOG ralley, tassled do-rag easter egg paint job shit but I love them. they're my brother from another mother as a boozefighter and yes I do kiss them on the lips. That's the commitment I have to them and they to me. They say what they mean and mean what they say.

So I don't take too much stock of someone on the Jockey Journal, or Chop Cult (less drama there thank God) or on a blog actin' all hard because when it comes down to it it's noise and bluster and don't have the commitment to the lifestyle than someone they may poke fun of like a more Crittery looking brother of mine. But I know who has the heart and the love and know who I can count on.

Ok rant over...

I know J-rod, I was mostly being a smart ass too ;-) I agree with you, I get tired of the play actors, I've been doing this shit for over 20 years, I've ridden with a club, I've partied with 1%er's, I've partied with HOG members, Hell I even drink with some of the posers. I'll bust their balls, but I'll still drink with them. Wait a minute, maybe I'm just a drunk because I seem to be seeing a pattern here......

Shallah Raekwon, yes. Good blog post and comments. I like it all, metal, hip hop, punk, funk, jazz. I'll even dig on some Joni Mitchell if the smoke is potent enough. Hold up, did I just say that?

Anyway, whatever creams your twinkie is what I say.

And remember:
"Wu-Tang is for the children."
